The idea of free college has been a hot topic for the last few years as tuition has raised at astounding rates. However, college is still worth your money! And, the price of college is not always what it is perceived to be. HERES WHY!***
THE COST OF ATTENDANCE IS ALL JACKED UP
Most universities factor in their room and board cost to their overall cost of attendance. Often times room and board alone can make up HALF of a university’s advertised cost of attendance. Sorry fam, but I’m not living in the dorms my whole college career. So really students aren’t always paying the sticker price shown for college.
YOU MAKE MORE MONEY WITH A DEGREE
Even with increases in cost of living and the cost of a degree, people with degrees earn a a million dollars more over a lifetime than those who don’t have degrees. Get that coin sis!
COLLEGE CAN BE PAID FOR
There are literally SO MANY WAYS to pay for school, they just require some effort and research. There are tax credits granted to students or families of students, scholarships, college promise programs depending on the state. All it takes is a little time and effort to see what you qualify for!
And if college was free…
IT MIGHT DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD!!!
In an increase in taxes and potential loss of jobs
In an increase of class sizes without an increase in the quality of education
And an even further separation between the rich and the poor since those with money will be able to fill private schools and decrease diversity
Do you think college should be free? Let me know in the comments below!
